Hardware and software

Faculties and departments liaise with the DICT team to obtain advice of purchase  new hardware and software. Payment is made using departmental fund.

Some software is purchased by DICT under licence which allows for use by either all staff and students or for one or other of these groups.

Hardware support

DICT provides desktop hardware support for MU-owned equipment. We offer various levels of support depending on the hardware and the circumstances surrounding any repairs that are required. We do not offer data backup and restoration services for any computers that are brought to us; you are responsible for taking your own regular backups prior to equipment being brought in to DICT.

Disposal of goods

Once your machine reaches a certain age and it is time for replacement, you will need to consult the Mwongozo wa Matumizi Bora na Salama ya TEHAMA in order to facilitate the process of replacing your equipment.
