Chuo Kikuu Mzumbe ni taasisi yenye dhamana ya kuendesha mafunzo katika taasisi za umma. Kwa kutambua umuhimu na wajibu wa watumishi kwa taasisi za umma katika kutekeleza majukumu yao ya kila siku katika kazi, Chuo Kikuu Mzumbe tawi la  Morogoro kimeandaa mafunzo ya siku tano kwa wafanyakazi wa taasisi za Umma.Ingawa kuna watu wengi wanaopenda kutumia tehama maofisini, uelewa juu ya matumizi sahihi ya tehama bado unaonekana kuwa mdogo. Wadau wote wa Tehama wanatakiwa wafundishwe vizuri juu ya ulinzi na usalama wa mitandao, suala zima la kutuma na kupokea taarifa kupitia njia mbalimbali za tehama, ikiwa ni pamoja na kuelewa Sheria ya Mitandao iliyoanza kutumika rasmi tarehe 1 septemba 2015 (The Cyber Crimes Act, 2015).Kwa mujibu wa kifungu cha 21(1), ambacho kinamtaka mtoa huduma za mtandao kutoa habari zake pale serikali itakapozihitaji, ni vyema, watumaji, wapokeaji na wasimamizi wa masuala ya mitandao katika jamii/taasisi wawe na uelewa juu ya usalama wao na usalama wa taarifa zao.Watu wanoweza kupata athari ya moja kwa moja katika kazi zao za kila siku maofisini, ni pamoja na Maafisa Utumishi, Wauguzi, Madaktari, Wahasibu,  Makatibu Muhtasi,  Afisa Ugavi, Makatibu Mahsusi,Katibu Myeka, WatunzaKumbukumbu na Wahudumu.Jambo la muhimu la kufanya ni kuwapa ujuzi na mbinu ili waweze kupata nafasi ya kujua masuala mazima ya tehama na matumizi yake sahihi maofisini.  COMPUTER LITERACY COURSE-BEGINERS LEVEL 

 This course provides you a great entry point into the world of Information Technology, introducing you to the basic computer skills used in the majority of modern workplaces.Concepts taught under this course are the use of devices, file creation and management, networks, data security and Health practices when working with computer.After completion of this course, you will be able to understanding how computers work and operate as well as do your daily official, home, school, business works easily and accurately with high speed. In addition, you will gain knowledge of safety computer handling practices as well as data kept into your computer.

                                  COURSE DURATION

It is a Two (2) weeks course (Four hours per day).Training will start From December  1, 2020 – March 31, 2021 in which will have two batches per each month

  • Computer Software and Software Licensing
      • Define the term software and distinguish between the main types of software like operating systems, applications. Know that software can be installed locally or available online.
      • Define the term operating system and identify some common operating systems for computers and devices.
      • Identify common examples of applications like: office productivity, communications, social networking, media, design, mobile applications.
      • Define the term End-User License Agreement (EULA). Recognise that software must be licensed before use.
      • Outline the types of software licenses: proprietary, open source, trial version, shareware, freeware.

  • Network Concepts
  • Define the term network. Outline the purpose of a network: to share, access data and devices securely.
  • Define the term Internet. Identify some of its main uses like: World Wide Web (WWW), VoIP, e-mail, IM.
  • Define the terms intranet, virtual private network (VPN) and identify their main uses.
  • Understand what transfer rate means. Understand how it is measured: bits per second (bps), kilobits per second (kbps), megabits per second (mbps), gigabits per second (gbps).
  • Understand the concepts of downloading from, uploading to a network.
  • Identify the different options for connecting to the Internet like: phone line, mobile phone, cable, wi-fi, wi-max, satellite.
  • Define the term Internet Service Provider (ISP). Identify important considerations when selecting an internet subscription option like: upload speed, download speed and quota, cost.
  • Recognise the status of a wireless network: protected/secure, open.

  • Recognise good password policies like: create with adequate length, adequate character mix, do not share, change regularly.
  • Define the term firewall and outline its purpose.

  • Understand the term malware. Identify different types of malware like: virus, worm, Trojan, spyware.
  • Be aware how malware can infect a computer or device.
  • Use anti-virus software to scan a computer.

9. Health and safety when working with computers

  • Recognise ways to help ensure a user’s well-being while using a computer or device like: take regular breaks, ensure appropriate lighting and posture.
  • Recognise computer and device energy saving practices: turning off, adjusting automatic shutdown, backlight, and sleep mode settings.
  • Identify some options available for enhancing accessibility like:

voice recognition software, screen reader, screen magnifier, on-screen keyboard, high contrast.

In addition to that, you will learn how to use various online collaboration tools such as using drive to store your data, setting online calendar and meeting, using online docs and spreadsheets when doing your daily duties.
